Part 1 : Shapes

Muốn mô tả hình dáng của bất kỳ sinh vật nào hoặc bất kỳ cơ quan, bộ phận nào của cơ thể,
ta có thể dùng một trong những mẫu câu sau:

a. Noun phrase + shaped like + noun phrase.

e.g. The eye is shaped like a sphere.
       The kidneys are shaped like beans.

b. Noun phrase + be + a noun - shaped noun.

e.g. The heart is a cone - shaped organ.
       Caulobacter sp. are comma - shaped rods.

c. Noun phrase + be + an adjective + noun.

e.g. The eye is a small spherrcal organ.
       The stomach is a hollow muscular organ.

d. Noun phrase + be + Adjective + in shape.

e.g. The heart is conical in shape.
       The nose is trianguglar in shape.

beanical (adj) có hình hạt, đậu
cone (n) hình nón
conical (adj) có hình nón
cylinder (n) hình trụ
cylindrical (adj) có hình trụ
dome (n) vòm
domed (adj) có hình vòm
helicoidal (adj) có hình xoẵn ốc
pear (n) quả lê
pear-shaped (adj) có hình quả lê
rod (n) que, gậy
rod-like (adj) có hình que
slender (adj) mảnh , mảnh đẻ
sphere (n) hình cầu
spherical (adj) có hình cầu
spiral (adj) xoắn ốc
triangle (n) hình tam giác
triagular (adj) có hình tam giác
tupe (n) ống
tubular (adj) có hình ống
